Kettlethorpe High School

Kettlethorpe High School is a mixed secondary school with specialist status for maths and computing in Wakefield. With a comprehensive admissions policy, in 2018/2019 it had an enrolment of 1543 pupils aged 11–16.

What was the challenge you faced before joining Biscuit IT?

Like many schools, Kettlethorpe High School struggled to make the transition to remote learning during lockdown. They found that many of their staff members were finding it difficult to get to grips with their new Cloud systems.

This prompted the Deputy Headteacher, Gary Lickiss, to look for a Yorkshire-based IT company to arrange training and provide IT Support services to the school.

“Key to our requirements was to find a local IT partner who offered a service which was personal to the school, and who understood our current and future challenges.”

How did Biscuit help?

Biscuit organised a Microsoft-certified training course for Kettlethorpe’s staff. This course was designed to meet the school’s immediate need to develop internal skillsets. It was a fantastic success, leading to an immediate improvement in remote teaching processes.

The success of this first course has led to an ongoing IT training and support relationship between Biscuit and Kettlethorpe. Biscuit’s expert trainers continue to arrange and deliver courses for Kettlethorpe’s staff, and our support staff are available to assist with any problems the school may encounter.

Viking Shoot

Founded in 1965, Viking Shoot have built a reputation since then as one of the UK’s most respected sports gun suppliers. Based in Harrogate, Viking Shoot have long-standing relationships with leading global manufacturers. This lets them ensure that they provide high-quality, reliable and cost-effective services to their clients.

What was the challenge you faced before joining Biscuit IT?

The cost of maintaining and supporting Viking’s aging IT systems was rapidly increasing, and their previous IT partner was doing little to tackle the root cause of problems.

The time had come to change supplier, so Viking were on the lookout for a partner who could tackle all their existing problems as well as upgrading their systems to support flexible working. Viking’s Managing Director, Sam Macarthur, said:

“Previously our IT providers had been disjointed and remote, costs escalated but service and performance didn’t. The support was reactive which meant continued downtime and general frustration.”

How did Biscuit IT help?

Biscuit have recently completed a huge infrastructure upgrade in Viking’s offices. As part of an office re-fit, we specified a new server room. This server room is the hub for Viking’s new and upgraded IT systems, giving them cost-effective and easy to manage infrastructure.

Biscuit provide Viking with the full spectrum of support services, from first line user support to third line infrastructure and server support. We have also provided brand new backup and cyber security systems.

Bespoke Acoustic Solutions

Bespoke Acoustic Solutions (BAS) are a leading UK manufacturer of quality, high-performance, cost effective Acoustic Louvres and Enclosures based in Worsley Manchester. They have worked on numerous projects, both large and small, through direct appointment with the end client and in association with acoustic consultants. All BAS products are manufactured in Britain and goods are procured from local suppliers.

Why did they need a new system?

BAS have been clients of Biscuit IT and Yorkshire Telecommunications since 2017. The company had a requirement to replace their Essex based IT supplier and wished to upgrade outdated laptops. Having an IT supplier based 4 hours away proved complicated and felt that they were not getting the IT support when required.
 
In addition to their IT requirements BAS needed to upgrade an outdated telecom system and required a broadband installation.

How did Biscuit help?

Biscuit IT were appointed to provide outsourced IT support and replacement laptops complete with Microsoft Office 365 package offering collaboration, scalability, and cost savings. Yorkshire Telecommunications were contacted to replace their outdated telecoms system to a new LIP920 and Cloud system.

Feedback

YTL and Biscuit Marketing Manager Lee Pearson met with BAS Office Manager Debra Barlow recently to gain feedback on the replacement products and services supplied by Yorkshire Telecoms and Biscuit IT.
